July 11th - What does a lion do?

Baby's first...

~ ~
I can't believe my baby is almost one year old. He has become a proper little lad already.  In the last week there have been a few 'firsts' that make me a little proud and a little sad that it's all going so fast.

1.
Baby's First Steak & Chips
Tom makes a mean steak and chips, I keep telling him he should open a shop. Elliot loves it and thanks to Baby Led Weaning, he can eat it all by himself.

2.
Baby's First Bar Brawl
A nice day out at the park turned sour when some kid looked at Elliot funny ...Not really, he had a run in with a wall while trying to stand. You should see the wall.

3.
Baby's First Plank

All the kids are doing it. Check it out. This one was inspired by Auntie Sophie's deft planking skills. Hey, at least he's not looting.

July 22nd - Horrendous

~ ~
I would use the word 'horrendous' to describe two things I have seen today: The first, a woman beating a crow to death with a cricket bat at the park. The second, our landlord's choice of fabric for our newly upholstered couch.

Tom needs a haircut, he's starting to resemble Liza Minnelli

Pick The Band Playing At The Brixton Academy

~ ~
My new favourite game.
Pick the band by the punters getting off the tube.
Today's clue:
Mild mannered, slightly overweight men in their late 30s wearing ironic t-shirts and boring sneakers.
Answer: Weezer

July 2nd - Mr and Mrs Wilkinson

~ ~
We travelled to a barn in the hills of Derbyshire for Chris and Lucia's beautiful wedding. We had serious wedding envy. Being a craft nerd, the bride had decked the whole it out beautifully and Tom is still talking about the pulled pork from the pork van. Elliot wasn't such a fan. He threw up all over Tom during the bride's dad's speech and we all had to leave early. Oh well!

Oh Yoshimi!

The Flaming Lips at Alexandra Palace. Amazing!

June 29th - Elliot and Olive go to tea

~ ~

Another visitor to London, another excuse to go to high tea at The Orangery. This time it was with one of my oldest friends Claire and her little gorgeous girl Olive. After stuffing our faces with cake we let the babies run free on the grass. Elliot took off without looking back. It's nice that he's independent, it's a worry that he has no fear.

Gaaw! Look at that face!
Mmm delicious

New skills: Walking with the walker trolley, standing for a few seconds, breakdancing (well... scooting around in a little circle while sitting on the floor.)
Favourite pastimes: Going 'wawawawawa' like a native American as taught by Unca Dee; Entertaining people with my 'poop face', Getting into Mummy's shelf if nice sparkly, breakable things (see above).

Mum Skills: Afternoon cocktails

I have recently discovered the joys of Ribena with gin. I call it "Mum's The Word".

Mum's The Word
4 parts Ribena
1 part Gin
Pour into glass, sippy cup or mug. Stir with finger.
Enjoy sitting down.

June 26th - Nuns on the run

"Yes, yes, this one shall make a fine prize for Benedict"
Tom is away in Scarbourough this weekend for Toby's stag do. We don't want to end up back in hospital in his absence so we're heading up to Norwich for the weekend to celebrate Bess' 2nd birthday. On the way up Elliot had the fear of God put in him.

June 22nd - It's days like these

June 19th - Father's Day!

~ ~

Nothing says 'Happy Father's Day' like a cake in the shape of your head.

Ciao Bimbo!

A week in Italy with Margherita and Unca Dee was just what we needed after Elliot's hospital visit and night after night of broken sleep. Plus a reunion with Uncle Andy and Auntie Bella. Bellissimo!!

Highlights included:
Getting charged £40 to transport an empty suitcase because it "wouldn't fit" in the hand luggage cage thingy. (The suitcase itself was worth £12.)
Margherita's amazing house
Amazing food
Amazing wine
Truffle panini
Fascist typography
Meeting Roberto Cavalli's brother-in-law (fairly random)
Flee market shopping in Florence
Missing our flight back (us?) and spending an extra day in Pisa.... which wasn't so bad.
