Is it just me or has Santa let himself go?
Today we went to Westfield to meet the man himself. Here he is in his Westfield Grotto (or is it his staff room?) with some sort of notice-board behind him and a sad array of tinsel and plastic foliage. When I used to visit him as a kid he would at least tidy up before we got there and there was usually a backdrop.
I think we must have caught him in the middle of a stock take because he's left his inventory list on top of his sack and he hasn't had time to centre his chair. Rudolf appears to have been beheaded and stuffed with his head strung up above Santa like a hunting trophy and it looks like last year's christmas tree is creeping in on the right like it has been stashed there since the staff party last year when Mrs Claus moved it to avoid any health and safety issues that might arise with the combination of drunk elves and twigs.
... and why is the background on the left showing a creepy velvet curtain? I'm expecting it to jolt to life at any moment and roll back on an electric motor to reveal a funeral parlour. Is this where coffins go at the end of a funeral?
It looks like Elliot wasn't aware of the poignance of his first Santa photo and Santa may have sacked his visual merchandiser, but it was a moment to treasure none the less.
