Elliot and I went to a pottery cafe with some of the NCT girls on Monday for an afternoon of painting. If you think painting tiny bits of pottery sounds difficult, you should try it with a squirming baby on your lap. Hand prints seemed like a good idea but Elliot was quite reluctant to open his hand after I'd painted it. This resulted in a sort of mexican pottery standoff. Two people staring intently at each other, one with a bauble in their hand and the other with a closed green fist until one of them gets distracted and a bauble gets forced into the little hand or the little green hand jumps into a little mouth. Foot prints were a bit easier but still resulted in tiny green toenails which I have no idea how to clean. I would show you the finished products, but it might ruin your christmas surprise!
As naff as these pottery places are, if it's done well it looks fantastic. The designs could definitely be improved on to look less tragic. Do they have these in Australia? If not, business plan alert!
